Generating 30 years of carbon rights from Bamboo farm; CO2 reduction
Carbon Farming
Removing carbon from the atmosphere through regenerative farming by supporting the business model of farmers. We support farmers in Ghana and Uganda in their transition to regenerative farming by facilitating them in generating carbon credits for the regenerative practices they implement. Through participation with Rabo Carbon Bank it is possible to facilitate farmers of attractive financing solutions, agronomic advice and support , verification of carbon credits and sales of carbon credits.
What is Carbon Farming?
Carbon Farming is a term that is heard more often. It means that farmers are being paid for storing carbon in their soil. This is an essential step where revenues from carbon credits can help accelerate the transition to regenerative farming at scale.
Carbon offset projects can vary widely in terms of the methods used and the benefits they provide. In Ghana, there are opportunities to implement carbon offset projects involving various stakeholders. There are 4 main activities:
Tree planting for carbon credits involves the intentional planting of trees to capture and store carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, with the aim of generating carbon credits. Projects focused on tree planting for carbon credits help offset greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to climate change mitigation efforts. These projects often involve agroforestry practices and play a crucial role in enhancing biodiversity, restoring ecosystems, and promoting sustainable land management practices.
Planting bamboo as part of agroforestry systems offers numerous benefits, including rapid growth, soil conservation, water regulation, carbon sequestration, and economic opportunities through the sale of bamboo products. It serves as a versatile component, integrating well with other crops or livestock, and contributes to sustainable land use practices.
